 Additional Requirements for Minor children
 
  1. Additional requirements for Minor children (No Longer Mandatory Now - See New Rule Below): Minor children* going to Canada to study must also provide proof of a custodian in Canada. As proof, they must submit notarized declarations – one signed by the parents or legal guardians in the country of origin, as well as one signed by the custodian in Canada – stating that arrangements have been made for the custodian to act in place of a parent.

    • (*Children under 18 years of age in Alberta, Manitoba, OntarioPrince Edward IslandQuebec and Saskatchewan will require a custodianship form.
    • Children under 19 years of age in British Columbia New Brunswick Newfoundland and Labrador Nova Scotia Northwest Territories, Nunavut and the Yukon will require a custodianship form)

    NEW RULE -

    Change to the Custodianship Requirement for Minor Students
    Operational Bulletin 339 - September 15, 2011

    Effective September 15, 2011, the custodianship requirement will be discretionary for minor students between 17 years of age and the age of majority in the province or territory of the educational institution where they intend to study. The custodianship requirement will continue to be mandatory for minor children under the age of 17.

    Means it is not mandatory for the minor children to attach custodianship declaration with their application but the Visa officers may request the custodianship declaration of any applicant at their discretion.

  2. Children under 16: Children under 16 travelling without one or both parents or without a legal guardian must provide a notarized authorization for travel signed by both parents or by the parent or legal guardian not travelling. This authorization should be available for presentation at the Canadian Port of Entry.
 
  Education Loan sanction Letter Format for Canada
  • Education Loan: The purpose of loan should be education loan.
  • Loan for the purpose of education: the purpose should be to study in Canada or to study abroad.
  • Guarantors should be preferably (in the order of preference) parents or immediate family members. If not possible, then only close relatives or close friends should be mentioned.
  • Mention name of College in Canada and course name in the loan sanction letter
